All right, I've finally finished the four pieces. I knocked out the first two pieces on Day One. I forced myself to do the third piece on Day Two. I procrastinated a bit and just finished the fourth piece.
After uploading the fourth piece, I went ahead and added the final version 1.0 of the Tribal Digital. As you may have noticed, it has an orange background. I decided to leave the color in there to make it a bit easier on the eyes.
As for why the color is orange, that is easily explained. A few months ago, I'd actually started this project (back then, I had no intentions on uploading it into deviantART), using Adobe Photoshop (CS4, for those who want to know the version). I tried tracing the pieces on another layer, not typically a bad idea, but having the scanned image in black and white made it difficult to see, as I was using the standard black lines. What I did this time was create another layer, lower the opacity and add color to use as a transparency layer.
Each piece that I that worked on I gave a new color; red, blue, green then orange, in that order. This was so I didn't get bored staring at the same color, it also gave each piece their own identity in my eyes. As the finished product, I left the orange in there. It seemed to look better than the shades or red, blue and green that I was using.
That said, I'm ready to start on my next phase of this project: smoothing out the outlines. Once that's done, I'll see what colors or patterns I can use to contort the pieces to for the finished product.
